Welcome to the 2016 Washington, DC Global Issues Network Conference at the George Washington University!
March 14th and 15th, 2016
brought to you by Washington International School and School Without Walls
Keynote Speakers • Panels • NGO Workshops • Student Presentations • Global Villages
The goal of the GIN conference is to empower young people to collaborate locally, regionally and globally in order to create sustainable solutions for global issues. Conference activities include student led workshops, keynote speakers, panel discussions, student produced films, an NGO fair, and the creation of strategic action plans on global issues.
Last March, our 2015 conference equipped hundred of high school students from across the DC area with the tools necessary to discuss and question the world’s most divisive issues, ranging from migration to sustainable development, and the Syrian civil war.
Vice-President of Brand Marketing Chief of Programming and Training, Africa Region
This year’s panel is focused on the Syrian Civil war and the ensuing refugee situation.
This two day conference:
- Empowers students to step outside of their designated role and self-identify their contribution based on their strengths, interests and passions.
- Grows opportunities for cross disciplinary and project-based learning between classrooms and across grade levels.
- Reinforces bonds and highlights leadership in students, administration and faculty.
- Infuses optimism and strengthens morale.
